Pocket-sized A5 C-fold programme cards are available on the door at all dances, while stocks last. If you fancy your origami skills and would like to make your own version, download the two Portable Document Format files below (you may need to install Adobe Acrobat Reader to do this) and print them back-to-back onto a single A4 sheet (the files comprise two copies per sheet, so you will have a spare leaflet for a friend!).

Folk In South Yorkshire was formerly known as EFDSS South Yorkshire District. A few years ago all the EFDSS districts decided to drop that part of their name. FISY represents the dance clubs in the South Yorkshire area that are affiliated to the EFDSS. Officers are elected in October each year at the AGM which is held in Sheffield.

However, there is no need to be an EFDSS member to attend either the regular or special dances organised by FISY, and you will not be required to join as a condition of admission.

The EFDSS is the English Folk Dance and Song Society whose headquarters are at Cecil Sharp House in Regents Park, London. There is an EFDSS website where events are listed week-by-week. You can find on a road map from www.streetmap.co.uk. Or punch the postcode NW1 7AY into your in-car satellite navigation system and off you go.

The Folk In South Yorkshire website contains listings of all the dances organised by the EFDSS affiliates at Braithwell, Deepcar, Grenoside, Wharncliffe Side, Psalter Lane, Sheffield and Worksop for the current season (September to July). There are pages listing all the venues where the dances are held, including addresses and links to web-based street maps. Also listed are the classes and groups that meet regularly in the area and all the resident and guest callers and musicians that have appeared recently at the dances. Finally there is a page of links to other web sites concerned with folk dancing.

The FISY Dance Diary has been formatted in several ways, so for example you can quickly look up the main dances with live bands, those with a particular caller, or those at a particular venue. The dances under each sub-heading are listed in date order. Bookmark our Stop Press section for a quick reminder of what is coming up in the near future and to see any important changes to schedules, personnel or venues.
